Parish News: Parish Pizza Fundraiser

Can you imagine a town so small, they have only a post office, gas station, and some really nice people? You guessed it folks, you’ve hit Oglala, South Dakota.

Even in a small town, where home cooking is at its finest, people still crave eating out once in a while. Thank goodness for “Pizza Wednesdays” at Brother Rene Hall, Our Lady of the Sioux Parish. There, John and Judy Grass work their magic to make delicious homemade pizzas. Yes, you heard it folks, take-out pizza. Between 4-7 p.m., most Wednesdays, you can see John flipping pizza crusts and Judy stacking on the great toppings.

The proceeds of this delicious enterprise go to fund many of the great projects at Our Lady of the Sioux, most important would be the food pantry. Unfortunately, not everyone in our little town has enough food to eat, some don’t have running water, and some can’t afford diapers. All of these necessities are available at the Our Lady of the Sioux Food Pantry.

If you’re planning a trip to Oglala, be sure to schedule a stop at Wednesday’s Pizza Sale. In the humble opinion of this townsperson, it is the best pizza anywhere.
