RED CLOUD PLAYS CLOSE MATCH AGAINST BENNET COUNTYposted October 10,2007
The Red Cloud Lady Crusaders took on the Bennett County Warriors in a close volleyball match-up on Tuesday, October 2nd at Red Cloud. The Warriors squeaked by the Crusaders in 5 sets to win 22-25, 29-27, 25-19, 26-28, 6-15. Even with starter Danielle Locust out for the night, the team pulled together to play tough back row defense and strong hitting performances at the net. However, the team was unable to keep their motivation going in the last set to beat the Warriors. Leading the Crusaders in set assists for the night were Amber and Desirae Blacksmith with 11 assists each. A. Blacksmith had an outstanding night behind the serving line going 23-27 with 9 ace serves. Junior Middle Hitter Marque Lunderman led in both blocks and kills with 3 and 18 respectively. Senior Middle Hitter Lisa Bear Robe finished the night with 4 ace serves and 11 kills. Outstanding defense goes to Ida Clarke who had 59 digs against the Warrior’s offense. The Crusader’s record fell to 20-6. The next varsity match will be played in Winner on Thursday, October 11 th. Junior Varsity will play at 5:00cst, followed by the Varsity.
