Volleyball team keeps winning streak alive The Lady Crusader Volleyball team traveled to Kyle on Thursday, September 6, to take on the Little Wound Mustangs. The Crusaders came out on top, winning in four sets 25-14, 25-16, 20-25, 25-10. The Lady Crusaders played tough defense and were able to control the net with Marque Lunderman putting down 5 kills and Danielle Locust and Ida Clarke both with 3. Lisa Bear Robe and Danielle Locust were consistent with their serving with 7 aces each. Desirae Blacksmith kept the team in sync with 42 out of 46 sets and 6 assists. On Saturday, September 8, the team kept their winning streak alive by beating the Custer Wildcats 25-16, 25-12, 21-25, 25-21 in Custer. The Lady Crusaders stepped up their level of play by keeping the momentum high and playing consistently the entire game. Pacing the Crusaders behind the serving line were Ida Clarke, Marque Lunderman and Desirae Blacksmith, served a combined 98 percent from the serving line and 6 total aces. Lunderman pulled down 16 out of 20 attacks with 10 of them kills. Lisa Bear Robe and Clarke followed with 6 and 5 kills respectively. Blacksmith had a great day, setting with 53 out of 55 sets and 9 assists. Blacksmith and Danielle Locust kept the ball alive with their great defensive play and hustle. Locust accomplished 36 out of 44 successful passes/digs for the Crusaders. The Lady Crusaders are now 8-3 on the season and will travel to Chadron on Tuesday, September 11, with the 9th grade playing at 4:00 p.m., followed by the Junior Varsity and Varsity.
